28 January 2013hi i was wondering when you are first begining to write a new story to you come up with a topic first and then write or does it just come to you? and before you write it all day to do you play it all out in your head?
I'm usually thinking about one or two elements of a new story months before I write anything. I had the idea for my latest book when I was still writing Unrest, and it's been the same with all my books. I don't play everything out in my head - there needs to be enough room for change - but I daydream about the plot and characters a lot which helps them develop in my mind. I'm not saying this is the right way to do things - some writers can sit and make it up as they go along and it works for them - but this is the approach that's right for me.
