I was just reading the 13 facts about you, 13 is my lucky number too. All my friends think I'm wierd because of it but I like going against the superstitions. Do the dreams coming true ever freak you out?
I'm supersitious in other ways (wish I wasn't) but 13 has not proved unlucky for me (yet). Yes, dreams coming true, and some dreams in general, have freaked me (and also my family) out.
06 February 2011Hi Michelle, not talked to you in a while. I was the one that asked you if you wanted tocome ti my school. I gave the school you email address and I am guessing that they didnt contact you becuase you havent visited :( Am going to get the 13 secrets soon!! YAY! Oh and is there any chance of T13T being made into a film? I know you said you were going to America, anything haooned? I would love to know!!
Eleanor x
Hi Eleanor
Nice to hear from you. No, I don't believe I've heard from your school. I had my trip to America last year to meet with librarians and booksellers before 13 Treasures was published there. It was great! No news on a film - see Q&A on the Books page for more detail.
Michelle
06 February 2011you might think 44 but i continue to read childrens fiction to help my own writing. 13 secrets was as complete a first novel as i've seen. i was intrigued how you'd be original with the whole area of fairies when there are so many good examples out there but you did this so well. ready for 'curses' now and an incentive to get back writing myself.
Thank you! Though 13 Secrets is actually my third novel - 13 Treasures was the first. I don't think anyone is ever too old for children's fiction, especially if this is the age group you're writing for. It makes sense to have an interest in what's out there. Good luck with the writing.
05 February 2011Hi Michelle, how long does it take you on average to write a book and get it published?
Hi, it really depends on how fast you write and how quickly it's accepted by an agent/publisher. For me it took about eight months to get the book written, but then I spent three years trying to get an agent, and during that time I worked on improving the book and rewrote parts of it several times. I've heard that the average length of time for a first novel, from writing to publication, takes five years.
05 February 2011hi michelle you came to my school last week. i was great hearing about your life. i have all 3 of your books now and i cant wait to read them
love becki x
Hi Becki! Thanks for the positive comments - really glad you enjoyed the visit. I hope you'll like the books!
05 February 2011Hiya! I forgot to say this before and the comments weren't working for me last night so here goes. The diary entrys are supposed to be in itallics i just couldn't get it to work! Sorry

That's OK. Last time I edited the winning entries for spelling/grammar, and also put some parts in italics to make it obvious which parts were written/thoughts etc.
05 February 2011oh that must take a long time. how many r there?
See below.
05 February 2011Hiya! Congratz on the new book! I'm really nervous about the competition! Best wishes to everyone who entered. How many people did enter this time? If its ok to ask.
Good luck, welldone! It is turning out to be a happy year!

Thanks Niamh. There are about 300 entries, so it's going to take some getting through.

Hi Jennifier - glad you're enjoying it so far, and it gets better!
05 February 2011When will you post the winners story on the website?
As soon as possible! There are a lot of entries and I haven't had a chance to get reading yet as I've been away on book tour.
